Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) outlines the terms and conditions governing the use of Hostys’ services, including web hosting, data backup, recovery, and other related services.

By using Hostys’ services, you agree to comply with this AUP. Failure to adhere to these terms may result in the suspension or termination of your services.

1. Prohibited Activities

Hostys’ services may not be used for any unlawful, harmful, or unethical activities. Prohibited activities include but are not limited to:

Violation of Laws: Users must comply with all applicable local, state, and international laws and regulations. Any activities that violate these laws, including but not limited to copyright infringement, hacking, phishing, and fraud, are strictly prohibited.
Spam and Unsolicited Communications: Sending spam, unsolicited emails, or any other form of unsolicited communication is prohibited. Hostys reserves the right to suspend or terminate services for users engaged in spam activities.
Malware and Malicious Activities: Uploading, distributing, or engaging in activities related to malware, viruses, or any form of malicious software is strictly prohibited. Users are responsible for securing their accounts and websites.
Unauthorized Access: Unauthorized access to computer systems, networks, or data is prohibited. This includes attempting to breach security measures, exploit vulnerabilities, or engage in any form of hacking.

2. Resource Abuse

Users must not engage in resource-intensive activities that negatively impact server performance or the experience of other users. This includes but is not limited to:

Excessive CPU or Memory Usage: Users must not use an excessive amount of server resources, including CPU and memory, that adversely affects server performance.
Bandwidth Abuse: Excessive bandwidth usage that affects server stability or other users’ access to services is prohibited.

3. Content Guidelines

Users are responsible for the content they host on Hostys’ servers. Prohibited content includes:

Illegal Content: Hosting, distributing, or sharing illegal content, including pirated software, copyrighted material without authorization, and any content that violates intellectual property rights, is not allowed.
Adult Content: Hosting explicit adult content, pornography, or any material that is not in compliance with applicable laws and regulations is strictly prohibited.
Hate Speech and Harmful Content: Content that promotes hate speech, discrimination, violence, or any form of harm towards individuals or groups based on race, religion, gender, or other protected characteristics is not allowed.

4. Security Obligations

Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their accounts and websites. This includes:

Password Security: Users must use strong and secure passwords and keep them confidential. Sharing login credentials or failing to protect them may lead to unauthorized access.
Software Updates: Users are responsible for keeping their software, including website applications and plugins, up to date to prevent security vulnerabilities.
Backup Responsibility: Users are encouraged to utilize Hostys’ backup and recovery services but must also maintain their own backups of critical data.

5. Reporting Violations

Hostys takes AUP violations seriously. If you believe another user is violating this AUP, please report it to our resolutions team at support@hostys.com.au. We will investigate reports and take appropriate action as necessary.

6. Consequences of Violation

Violations of this AUP may result in actions taken by Hostys, including but not limited to:

Warning: Users may receive a warning about AUP violations.
Service Suspension: Hostys may temporarily suspend services to investigate violations.
Service Termination: Repeated or severe violations may lead to service termination without refund.

Hostys reserves the right to modify this AUP at any time. Users are responsible for regularly reviewing the AUP for updates and changes. Your continued use of Hostys’ services constitutes your acceptance of the terms outlined in this AUP.
